Marketing term in context

Body copy

In short: Body copy is the main continuous text of an advertisement or sales material beneath the heading. It develops the argument, adds evidence and leads the reader to the next step.

How I use body copy in practice

I use body copy as part of consistent communication. The same promise must make sense in advertising, on the website, in a sales call and after purchase. I prepare variants for the audience's question while keeping facts, tone and visual recognisability. I feed responses into the next version.

What to watch

One-off visibility is easy to overvalue. Body copy needs a connection to the long-term offer and a way to capture relevant response. A team tracking only reach or media equivalent may miss business impact.

Questions for decisions

  • Whom exactly does the message help, and in what situation?
  • What single meaning should the person take away?
  • Which evidence carries the main promise?
  • How will we capture a quality response and what follows?
