Marketing term in context

Doorway page

In brief: A doorway page is a page created primarily to rank for a search query and funnel visitors elsewhere, often without useful independent content.

How I use doorway pages in practice

I first define which decision a page should support, who the intended customer is and what evidence exists. A page should answer a real need and provide a clear next step, not merely occupy a search result.

What to watch for

Do not multiply nearly identical pages for locations or keywords when they add no distinct value. Search visibility without useful content can damage trust and create maintenance cost.

Questions for a decision

  • What unique problem does this page solve?
  • Can the claim be verified?
  • What will the visitor do next?
  • How will we measure useful outcomes?
