Marketing term in context

Event management

In brief: Event management is the planning and management of an event, from its objective and budget through the programme, suppliers and safety to communication with participants and evaluation.

How I use event management in practice

I use event management as part of coherent communication. The same promise must make sense in advertising, on the website, in a sales call and after the purchase. I prepare variations according to the audience’s question, but keep the facts, tone and visual recognisability. I feed people’s reactions back into the next version.

What to watch out for

One-off visibility is easy to overestimate. Event management needs a connection to the long-term offer and a way to capture a relevant response. If the team tracks only reach or media equivalent, it may miss the actual commercial impact.

Questions for decision-making

  • Whom exactly does the message help, and in what situation?
  • What single meaning should a person take away?
  • What evidence supports the main promise?
  • How will we capture a quality response, and what follows?
