In short: IndexNow is an open protocol with which a website actively tells participating search engines about added, changed or removed URLs.
How I use IndexNow in practice
I define which decision the term should improve, the data behind it and who will change something. I send only genuinely changed canonical URLs after successful publication and keep a record of requests and errors. I record the baseline, measurement date and interpretation limits so real movement can be distinguished from changes in tool, sample or query wording.
What to watch
A notification guarantees neither crawling, indexing nor ranking, and does not replace working internal links, a sitemap or correct HTTP statuses. I compare results over time and with business context. If the term leads to no concrete next step, it is only a label.
