Marketing term in context

Webinar

In brief: A webinar is a seminar or presentation held online, live or recorded. It may include explanation, demonstration, participant questions and follow-up materials.

How I use webinars in practice

I assess a webinar in the context of the whole page. The heading, text, controls, speed and feedback must together explain what can be done and what follows. I first fix barriers to the task; decoration and effects come only after the foundation works.

What to watch for

A component is not finished merely because it works with a mouse. I check keyboard use, contrast, zoom, screen reader, slow networks and the no-script state. Accessibility and performance are part of the same experience.

Questions for a decision

  • What task does the person want to complete on the page?
  • Where might they hesitate, make an error or lose context?
  • Does it work on mobile, by keyboard and on a slow network?
  • What signal will show that the change really helped?
